What is the meaning behind B*tchface? Well, its probably not what you think.
In Tana's words:
"So Tana, why take such a degrading name, or use such degrading words as shade colors? Here's why. The name B*tchface was given to me by my close friend Shannon. Shannon and I connected on many levels for many reasons. But one in particular brought us closer. The message behind the word " B*tchface" is important. Shannon and I grew up wearing makeup, dressing up, being cute. Loving our bright red lipstick. We both were called "wh*res" , "B*tches", Shannon in particular was in an occupation where the other women who weren't wearing red lips to work were spreading false rumors about her. They dubbed her "wh*reface" and "b*tchface" because she wore full makeup and red lips to work. I was just assumed to be "that girl" because I had b00bs in grade school. It didn't help my case when I started showing up to 8th grade with cat-eye liner and red lips. This is how society has been. How it has conditioned us as females. It's something that should give you pause. When a woman is pretty, or she has a desirable feature. She should be able to play that up, without being accused of being a sl*t. Now, many of us who have been accused of being inappropriate because we had say....bigger boobs as a junior higher...or boys gravitated to us because we had pretty eyes and a great sense of humor...doesn't make us automatically hooking up with your man. As a result there are many out there who want to wear the red lips, and the huge winged liner and lashes, but automatically associate it with being a "wh*re". OR assume it would be too much for them. Now, granted there are many who choose to live their lives as they wish, conduct their personal life as they wish...I don't care. They do what they want. But let's let every woman live their best life including wearing the most red lipstick you ever saw without assuming she's a "b*tchface". And if you are getting talked about or called those things, let them talk...walk proud!!! I decided... I am a B*tchface. I love what I love! And you know what? I'm not hooking up with anyone's guy. I have my own. I was actually pretty conservative with my space bubble growing up except for a small season in my young adult life. Past that, I am not what people assume. This is far more than makeup. This is a state of mind. It's very much a thing of the past to assume we know anything about someone by how they choose to dress or what their body looks like. Let's get past that. It's 2021!!!!!!"
